As a follow-up to our story and tasting notes on Singer Cellars, which is run by Barry and Gretchen Singer, popular photography dealers from Sonoma, CA, I thought you might like to know that I and my tasting group weren't the only ones to like the Singers' wines.
Earlier this year, Singer Cellars entered five of its 2009 wines into the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition with 5,500 other entries. This was the first time any Singer Cellars' wines were entered in competition. The company won five medals:
Double Gold:
2009 The Rhapsody: Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend
Silver:
2009 Cabernet Franc
2008 Merlot
Bronze:
2000 The Song: Cabernet Sauvignon
2009 Petit Verdot
I definitely think the Song and the Petit Verdot were robbed though. They should have gotten a Double Gold too. Congrats to the Singers, who will be exhibiting at AIPAD next week. Who knows: maybe they'll have a sample or two at their booth.
