NEW ICP SPACE OPENS: The International Center of Photography (ICP) has opened the doors to its new space at 250 Bowery, New York City. The new space, located diagonally across from the New Museum, is on the first two floors and basement of a building designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM). The glass front facade entrance opens onto a freely accessible space, described by the museum as a "village square", with a cafe, a bookstore and rotating photography on display. The first exhibit that inaugurates the new museum space is "Public, Private, Secret", an exploration of personal privacy in an increasingly public society, studying how "contemporary self-identity is tied to public visibility." "Public, Private, Secret" is curated by ICP’s first Curator-in-Residence Charlotte Cotton, with ICP Associate Curator Pauline Vermare and Assistant Curator Marina Chao.

LOOKING FOR A GIRLFRIEND: Collector and photographer Thomas Walther has a new exhibit of his work called "Looking for a Girlfriend: Color-Photographs 2015" running from July 31-October 23 at Somvih 19 open Monday-Saturday from 4 to 7 pm. The gallery is located in S-Chanf in Switzerland at the Villa Flor Hotel. Walther tells me that he is not looking for a girlfriend himself, but that the title comes from a poster in one of the images in the show.

RARE KODAK FILM: The George Eastman Museum recently purchased the only known box of Kodak Film for use in the Kodak camera, introduced in 1888, and one of only three known boxes of Kodak Transparent Film, introduced in 1889. Now a part of the museum's internationally renowned technology collection, these unopened boxes of film complete the museum's holdings related to the original Kodak camera--adding to its examples of the camera, case, shipping box, and sample images.
